Yesterday since I spent my day working outside, I had a yearning to get out into the hills and enjoy a bike ride before the sun set. I got everything done that I needed to around 5 so I drove down the street and set out on a nice ride through the valley in my front yard. This was the same area that I rode through a month ago on my very first ride with the bike. Now though, the grass had grown in so much more and I was also way more confident in the functionality of the bike.
And surprisingly this was another bike ride without breaking the bike! No chain popping off, no gear slipping, and no part failures. So it's finally seeming like I can just enjoy the bike instead of wondering what will break next. Still need to get a multitool and some tubes since it doesn't hurt to be prepared. But it's nice to just enjoy the bike rides now.

It’s no wonder people like to live where you do. It’s incredibly beautiful, and the weather looks generally perfect.

But it is occasionally colder than 60 and warmer than 80. And it rains like 5 days per year. Life is hard here!

That’s seriously the weather inside my house. Including the rain, if you count kids splashing gallons of water at a time out of the bath, or the occasional “oops I forgot to turn off the faucet and now the sink is overflowing”

There are times where we get multiple year’s worth of rain in a single day though. Those are scary. Thankfully I havent experienced it yet since moving but this often leads to mudslides which could block my only reasonable route to work. Going around would at least 60-90 minutes to my normal 15 minute drive. But ive seen it happen while being in California though so I know its not that uncommon.
